Thiruvananthapuram: An 18-year-old girl died in Kerala reportedly following extreme unscientific dieting.

Sreenanada hailing from Koothuparamaba in  Kannur died on Saturday after undergoing treatment for weak health.

She was found to be suffering from Anorexia Nervosa, an eating disorder related to concerns over gaining weight.

According to reports quoting the doctors who treated her, she was surviving mostly on water  and liquid food over the last six months.

As a result her health weakened. She was learnt to be following the diet based on unscientific advice through YouTube.

Though doctors had earlier advised psychological consultation for her, her family was learnt to have ignored it. As a result her condition worsened.

Sreenandan was a first year undergraduate student at the Pazhassi Raja NSS college at Mattanur in Kannur. She left behind father, mother and brother.
