Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert in eleven of the 14 districts in Kerala for Monday.

While an orange alert was sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha districts, in all the other districts a red alert was sounded.

Meanwhile, rain continued to wreak damage across the state on Sunday also.

A tree uprooted over a train at Cheruthuruthi in Thrissur district by around 10 am on Sunday. There were no casualties. Train services were disrupted for nearly one hour.

At Vadakara in Kozhikode a two wheeler rider was killed after a tree uprooted over him. The deceased was identified as Pavithran (64). Damage caused by uprooting of trees was reported from various parts of the state.

Floods were reported from many parts of the state including parts of Wayanad. Families from calamity prone areas were being shifted to safe locations.

Meanwhile, an apartment complex at Kochi suffered damages. A pillar of one of the high rise buildings partially collapsed. Around twenty families in the apartment were reportedly shifted and structural stability was being examined.

At Kodenchery on the suburbs of Kozhikode two brothers were killed after suffering electric shock. A tree reportedly uprooted and fell over an electric line.

A woman was reported killed in Idukki district after a tree uprooted and fell over her and a person drowned in Palakkad district.
