Thiruvananthapuram: Primary class students of a government school in Thiruvananthapuram were left shocked after vegetables they had grown in their school's garden were stolen by miscreants.
The incident left many deeply shocked with Kerala education minister consoling the children and offering moral support. Many other prominent persons have also extended helping hands to the children.
Most students of the primary class of the Government Model Lower Primary School in the city were involved in the vegetable farm. They were shell shocked to see that all the vegetables, including around 30 cauliflowers, were stolen when they reached the school on Monday morning.
The visibly upset children wrote a mass petition to the education minister urging him to provide surveillance cameras in the school. There had been previous instance of vegetables being stolen from the school garden
Vegetable garden coordinator Sunitha G S said that the children used to take care of the garden daily and were eagerly waiting for the harvest. Hence they were really upset over the robbery.
Vegetables grown at the school were being used for the noon meal programme of the school.
