Thiruvananthapuram: AICC general secretary in charge of Kerala Deepa Das Munshi has initiated a series of talks with the coalition partners of the Congress in Kerala.
The meetings are learnt to be held in view of the concerns raised by the coalition partners that infights in the Congress leadership in the state could affect the poll prospects of the Congress-led United Democratic Front.
Last week the Congress national leadership held a meeting of the state leaders and gave a strong message against factionalism.
Munshi told reporters that the talks with the coalition partners were part of the normal procedure where various issues would be discussed. It need not be considered as a follow-up of the meeting of Congress leaders in Delhi. She also added that the Congress party in Kerala would remain united.
Talks were held with Communist Marxist Party leader C P John and UDF independent MLA Mani C Kappan on Monday. They told reporters that various measures to strengthen the UDF and steps to be taken to win the maximum number of seats in the coming local body and assembly elections were discussed.
Munshi is likely to hold a meeting with leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League, which is the second largest party in the front, on Tuesday.
