Archbishop of Varapuzha Archdiocese in Kochi, Joseph Kalathiparambil, has conveyed the concerns over attacks on people of the Christian community in various parts of the country to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

Rijiju had called on the Archbishop in Kochi on Tuesday as part of his visit to the Munambam coastal area for a reception in the wake of the Waqf law amendment.

The Archbishop also urged that there should be a time-bounded solution to the plight of the people of Munambam over the Waqf Board's claim on their land.

The Congress and Left parties in Kerala had already highlighted the recent attack on Malayali Christian priests by right-wing activists at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and the denial of permission for the Palm Sunday procession at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Delhi, to counter the BJP's attempts to influence the Christian community with the Munambam issue.
