Parvathi lost her right hand in a road accident at the age of 12, but it didn't deter her spirits. She resumed her studies by learning the skill to write with left hand. Like a nursery kid, the class 7 girl started writing on slates and on cursive writing books. She also had an artificial right arm.

After passing class 10 and higher-secondary in humanities with impressive marks, she pursued law in Bengaluru.

Later she chased her civil service dreams and cracked it in the second attempt in 2023-24 by securing rank 282. She was allotted the Kerala cadre and got her first posting as assistant collector in Kochi.

As she took over on Monday, her family members including father K S Gopakumar and mother Sreekala S Nair, who is a school teacher, too turned up to witness the inspiring moment.

She wishes to become assistant collector in Alappuzha where her father is serving as deputy tahsildar. But owing to the bar on posting at home town she had to satisfy the neighboring district.
