Thiruvananthapuram: A school teacher has been placed under suspension and a case registered against her for spreading a baseless campaign connecting a higher secondary class girl student with a male teacher.

The incident took place at a school at Kilimanoor on the suburbs of Thiruvananthapuram.

Frictions among the teachers over certain issues was said to be the provocation. The student had even stopped going to school owing to the mental trauma caused by the baseless campaign.

Kerala general education minister V Sivankutty has ordered the deputy director of higher secondary education to probe into the matter.

Sources said that friction was going on among some teachers and staff for some time. Earlier an attendance register also went missing from the school and a staff member was placed under suspension.

The defamatory campaign linking male teacher and the girl student is believed to be a sequel to it. 

It was going on over the last couple of months. The female teacher even spread the defamatory campaign through social media groups. The girl's identity was also revealed.

Her parents sent complaints to the Chief Minister and other higher authorities. Based on that the teacher who unleashed the defamatory campaign was placed under suspension. The role of some other staff was also suspected in the incident, said sources.
