Thiruvananthapuram: A minor girl was sexually abused by a 23-year-old man for the past few years who was her giving synthetic drug laced in her food in Malappuram district in Kerala.
The accused, identified as Abdul Gafoor of Vengara in Malappuram, was arrested by the police on Monday. A case under various sections of POCSO Act was charged against him.
According to the police, the accused befriended the girl via social media in 2020 while she was 16. Later he sexually abused her by giving synthetic drugs laced food without her knowledge. He also took her photographs and threatened to use them against her.
Her gold ornaments were also taken away by the accused.
Later the girl's parents realised that their daughter is using synthetic drugs and subjected her to deaddiction treatments. Subsequently the girl revealed the sexual assault she suffered and the matter was reported to the police. The police nabbed the accused and seized the mobile phone used to take her photographs.
Police said that the youth was involved in a case for selling synthetic drugs also. The police are probing whether any other girls were also trapped by the accused in similar manner.
