A two-year-old girl was found dead in a well on the premises of the house on Thursday in the suburbs of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

Devendu, daughter of Sreejith and Sreethu of Balaramapuram, was reported missing on Thursday early morning.

Later her body was found in the well on the premises of the house. Though the family tried to maintain that the child could have accidentally fallen, the police took all members into custody following strong suspicion.

The postmortem examination also pointed out the chances of murder.

After hours of interrogation, Sreethu's brother Harikumar admitted the crime. But he did not disclose the motive.

Neyyatinkara Dy SP S Shaji said that Harikumar was arrested and one more person would be held soon. The motive could not be disclosed now as the investigation is currently underway.

Meanwhile, there are unconfirmed reports that the child's mother's was also involved in the crime.

Financial disputes were suspected to have led to the murder of the child. There were also marks of fire inside the house.
