Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said his biggest complaint against the RSS and the CPM is that they lack empathy for people. “I fight the RSS ideologically, I fight the CPM ideologically. I oppose them in the realm of ideas and speech. But my biggest complaint is that they do not have feelings for people,” Rahul said.
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha was speaking at a public meeting in Kottayam, marking the second death anniversary of former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy, widely regarded as one of the most popular mass leaders in recent times.
Reflecting on Chandy’s deep connection with the people, Rahul said those in politics should listen to the public and genuinely empathise with their concerns. The tragedy of Indian politics today is that very few feel what others are feeling, he said.
Rahul also called on former defence minister AK Antony at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram and visited the families of Congress leaders Thennala Balakrishna Pillai and CV Padmarajan, who passed away recently.
