Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala BJP leader and former MLA P C George has said that around 400 girls from one region in Kottayam district were trapped by 'love jihad'.
The former leader of regional party Kerala Congress also suggested that Christian girls should be married off before they attain the age of 24.
George, who was recently booked in a case for hate remarks, made the fresh controversial remark at a public function.
"In Meenachal taluk in Kottayam only around 400 girls were trapped in love jihad. Only 41 of them returned. Why is that the parents of Christian girls are waiting up to the age of 25 for marrying off the girls. I would ask the parents to marry off the girls before they attain the age of 24. Girls can continue studies even after marriage," said George.
George also said a huge cache of explosives seized by the police from Erattupetta in Kottayam the other day could be used for triggering explosives across Kerala.
"Kerala is heading towards a dangerous situation. I don't want to go into the details," said George.
The seven-time former MLA in Kerala had joined the BJP last year with the Kerala Janapaksham (Secular) party formed by him merging with the saffron party.
George, who often made controversial statements, was recently booked for a remark against the Muslim community during a discussion in a television channel and is on bail now. With the fresh remark, demand to cancel his bail is coming up from various corners.
