The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, an agency under the Kerala government, and Thiruvananthapuram-based Guru Gopinath Natanagramam is organising a four day film appreciation camp for students from class eight to ten.

As part of selection process, interested students were asked to watch the short film 'The Big Shave' and send their appreciation notes.

Many parents conveyed their concerns as the film contains scenes of shaving in a bloody manner. Hence the movie was replaced.

The academy chairman Premkumar said that the film The Big Shave by eminent filmmaker Martin Scorsese was included as it was one against war. But owing to concerns from certain quarters, it was changed, he said.

Of late, there were many instances of youngsters in Kerala getting involved in brutal crimes, including killing of family members.

Child psychologists and psychiatrists have pointed out that the violence in films as well as social media are factors that influence the young minds and there was even strong demand for government regulations.
