The three deceased were identified as West Bengal natives. Around 15 workers were in the building. Others managed to run out on seeing the building collapsing.

A portion of a two-storey building where the workers were staying collapsed at around 6 am. Old age of the building was prima facie found to be the reason.

Local sources said that the migrant workers used to wake up early in the morning to go for work. Hence, many of them managed to escape on noticing the building collapsing.

The incident could bring to focus the poor living conditions of migrant workers in the state.
