Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court on Friday criticised the Union government for the short time frame it gave for utilising the Rs 520 crore loan provided for Wayanad landslide rehabilitation works.
Subsequently, the Centre informed that the time frame has been extended from March 31 to December 31.
The Centre had granted Rs 529.5 crore to Kerala last month and stated that the fund's utilisation report has to be submitted by March 31.
The High Court division bench asked whether the Centre was trying to fish in troubled water and whether it had any hidden agenda by prescribing such a short time frame. The High Court has also asked the Centre to give a detailed explanation on the matter.
