Thiruvananthapuram: The funeral of V S Achuthanandan will be performed at his home town Alappuzha on Wednesday.
The Kerala government announced a holiday on Tuesday as a mark of respect to the former Chief Minister. Three days of state mourning would be observed.
The body will be kept on Monday at AKG study centre in Thiruvananthapuram and at his son's house in Thiruvananthapuram where he was staying.
On Tuesday, the body will be kept at the Darbar hall of the government secretariat and will be taken to his home at Alappuzha.
The funeral with full state honours will be held at the Valiya Chudukad crematorium in Alappuzha by Wednesday afternoon after being placed at the party district office.
A large number of people gathered at the AKG centre in Thiruvananthapuram as soon as the news of Achuthanandan's death spread.
