Thiruvananthapuram: A shocking video of the brutal ragging suffered by the first year nursing students at a government college in Kottayam district of Kerala has now come out, revealing the gory details of the horror.
In the video it could be seen that a first year nursing student was tied to a cot and senior students inflicted injuries on him using sharp objects.
The brutality did not stop even as the victim screamed. The seniors, who could be seen laughing at the sufferings of the students, were seen counting the injuries being caused to the victim as they poured lotion on the wounds. The third year nursing students could be also seen placing dumbbells and weight discs over the genitals of the victim.
The videos were said to be taken by some other students. It has also gone viral on social media.
Six first year students of the college were allegedly faced brutal ragging at the college hostel since last November. Five third year students of the college were arrested by the police in this connection on Wednesday.
The police are also probing the supervisory lapses of the college hostel authorities. There were reports that there was no full time warden at the hostel. The chances of more students suffering ragging could not be ruled out, said police sources.
The college principal A T Sulekha said that the delay on the part of the students in complaining about the ragging caused the delay in acting against it. As soon as the students complained, necessary actions were taken, she told reporters.
