Thiruvananthapuram: Protests and counter protests by CPM and BJP activists over the 'vote chori' allegation against union minister of state for petroleum and Thrissur MP Suresh Gopi ended in violence at Thrissur on Tuesday evening.

The CPM workers initially staged a protest march to the MP's office alleging that voters were added illegally ahead of the election. They poured black oil on his board placed garland with sandals.

Later, BJP workers took out a march in Thrissur town to protest against the CPM. It ended up in tension as the BJP and CPM activists came face to face. There were reports of stone pelting also. Police used force to disperse the agitators.
