It is learnt that that the parents were charged for not disclosing the sexual assault suffered by the Dalit girls from the accused, who believed to have had close connections with the family.

The parents were also learnt to be charge-sheeted for suicide abetment. The charge-sheet was filed at a CBI court in Kochi on Thursday. Four others were also charge-sheeted for sexual assault.

A POCSO court had earlier ordered further investigation in the case on the basis of a petition filed by the mother of the deceased girls alleging that the girls were murdered.

The sisters aged 13 and nine were found hanging in their one-room thatched house in a gap of around 50 days on January 13 and March 4, 2017. The children were found to have suffered sexual assault. Five accused in the case were earlier acquitted.

Later, a CBI probe was ordered considering the mother's demand. The CBI also concluded that the sisters ended life by hanging owing to trauma over harassments. The court ordered further probe asking the CBI to examine any murder angle. But the CBI is yet to find any evidence for murder.

Reacting to the fresh move of the CBI, mother of the girls said that the CBI was fearing to charge-sheet the real culprits and they were trying to put the blame on the parents. She also said that she will fight the matter legally and by staging stirs.
