Thiruvananthapuram: A section of survivors of the 2024 Wayanad landslide staged a protest on Monday against the delay in payment of monthly assistance by the state government.
The aggrieved people led by local politicians gathered in front of the Vythiri taluk office demanding immediate settlement of the dues in the daily assistance of Rs 300 and house rents to those staying in temporary shelters.
They alleged that even as the government received huge amounts as contributions to the CMDRF, there was lapse in timely disbursal of assistance to the families that lost their livelihood in the Chooralmala - Mundakkai landslides.
The stir was later called off after the government officials assured that the due will be cleared at once.
