Nishma, a native of Malappuram, died on the spot. The other three were rished to a hospital.

The incident occurred at popular eco tourism spot 900 Kandi during the wee hours of Thursday.

Local sources said that the tent was made using wooden logs, hay and grass. The exact reason for the mishap was not yet known. The police and tourism authorities were examining whether the tent was constructed after obtaining permission.

Many resorts and tourism lobbies were often accused of illegal constructions at resorts situated in ecologically sensitive areas in the region.
