A humanoid robot will greet police officers and visitors at the Kerala Police headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram hereafter.

KP-Bot, said to be the first humanoid robot to be introduced by any police force in the country, was formally launched on Tuesday.

The Kerala Police Cyberdome introduced the robot in association with a Kochi-based start-up firm Asimov Robotics.

Cyberdome nodal officer ADGP Manoj Abraham said that in the initial stage the robot would be used for guiding visitors, collecting information, creating files and fixing appointments with senior officers. In future, the AI enabled robot would be upgraded with more features for security related applications like surveillance, he said.
