It took almost one and a half years for the police to arrest fugitive M Bhanu Kiran who allegedly shot his boss, gangster-politician Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddelachervu Suri, a key accused in former Andhra Pradesh minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Paritala Ravi’s murder case.

He was arrested near Zaheerabad in Medak district when he was returning from Goa and  was presented before the media at the DGP’s office here on Saturday . Additional DGP Ramana Murty said Bhanu was involved in 15 cases, including Suri’s murder. Police also recovered a revolver from Bhanu, allegedly used in the murder of Suri.

“He has planned for the murder for months. Then he went to Delhi and moved to Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. In the last month, he was in Pondicherry. We laid a trap for him when he entered the state borders for want of money,” he said.

Bhanu obtained a PAN card, driving licence and a SIM card in different names in Madhya Pradesh. The police said they will seek police custody of the fugitive for further scrutiny.
The police also said they had leads on the murder of Suri from the car driver Madhumohan when the shooting took place in  the busy Yousufguda  area on January 3, 2011, evening.

Police believe that Bhanu, sitting in the back seat of the car, shot Suri who was sitting next to the driver at point-blank range and then got down out of the car and walked away.

Bhanu wanted to eliminate Suri as he was suspicious about the deals that former had done while he was in jail.
