Fearing anti-national demonstrations during world famous conductor Zubin Mehta concert at Shalimar Garden here, the Jammu and Kashmir government didn’t invite students and faculty members from Kashmir University (KU) to the show.

Sources told Deccan Herald that just seven officials from KU, including the vice-chancellor, registrar and dean of students welfare, were invited to the concert by the authorities.
“The invitations to students and other faculty members were curtailed following negative inputs from security and intelligence agencies, as the state government feared an anti-national demonstration at the concert,” they said.

“The list of the KU nominees was replaced by students and teachers from three public schools and some government schools at the last moment,” they added.
