A father-daughter duo and a teenager died due to landslides in differents parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The duo was buried in a landslide in Doda district, while the 16-year-old boy became a victim when a landslide struck close to his home in Patan, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The landslide in Pull Doda area occurred around 6.16 am in which Abdul Rehman (24) and his three-year-old daughter were buried, police said. Their bodies were recovered after a rescue operation was launched by the police and locals. The duo originally hailed from Uttar Pradesh and were among labourers engaged for road construction work in the district, police said.

The body of Akhter Hussain Sofi, a resident of Udina village in Patan, was retrieved from debris and handed over to his family, police said.

Landslides occurred in various places, thereby blocking the Doda-Bhaderwah and Batote-Doda road for over two hours. More than 100 vehicles of the CRPF, in which security personnel were travelling for poll duty from Doda to Anantnag in South Kashmir, were stranded. They moved towards their destination after the road was cleared.
