“Lara Dutta really liked one of my pink dresses which I showcased here today. She had tried three of my red carpet evening gowns in Goa, and really liked the pink one,”Rodricks told reporters after his opening show.

The dress, modelled by Laxmi Rana at the fashion event, is essentially a fuchsia “diva gown”with a bold and deep neckline and seamless circle sleeves.

Though the designer had asked Lara to come and walk the WIFW ramp for him, she couldn’t make it due to her packed schedule.

“Her dates were clashing with the event,”he said.
According to Rodricks, the dress took three days to make due to its risque neckline. But he did not divulge the exact cost of the outfit.

“I don’t think Lara would like me to give out the price of the dress in the press. But I can tell you that it is definitely below Rs 30,000,” Rodricks said.

Rodricks had an interesting line-up of outfits, catering to modern women of all shapes and sizes. While he had certain sleeveless yet conservative tunics and tops, some of his outfits had thigh-high cuts and broad cuts on the sides, which not many women would dare to wear.

Making a comeback of sorts at the WIFW, the Mumbai-based designer said: “I have got a great reception here.”

Meanwhile, actress-turned-politician Jaya Prada who made her modelling debut at the Wills India Fashion Week on Saturday, said glamour was as important in politics as on the ramp. Wearing a printed dress with a flowery hairdo, the star was the showstopper for designer duo Asheema and Leena, who also had ex-cricketer Kapil Dev walking the ramp for them in a green Kurta.

The 47-year-old former actress, who is the Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur admitted that she felt nervous before walking the ramp, but said that the experience was an exhilarating one.
