If you’ve ever panicked mid-cab ride wondering whether you left something behind on a flight, an Air India passenger’s recent exchange on X might feel a little too familiar.
On January 22, X user Vishesh Mehta tagged Air India saying he believed he had left his Samsung AirPods case on a Delhi–Mumbai flight (AI2433). Polite and hopeful, he even mentioned his seat number and asked if the airline could check.
"Hey @airindia, I believe I left my samsung airpods case in your flight from Delhi to Mumbai today AI2433. I was at seat 3E, could your team please check for those please," Vishesh posted.
Air India did reply. Promptly. Clearly. And with a reminder many passengers didn’t know they needed.
“Please note that it is the sole responsibility of the passengers to take care of their personal belongings during the flight,” the airline wrote, adding that it “cannot be held liable for any loss.”
Just in case that wasn’t enough, Air India also requested Mehta to share a copy of the missing item via DM, after making it clear that, well, it’s not really their problem. "Further, we request you to kindly share a copy of the missing item via DM. We'll get this checked," they said.
The response quickly caught the attention of X users, many of whom found humour in the airline’s policy-first, empathy-later tone. Screenshots of the exchange began circulating, with users joking that Air India had mastered the art of saying “we’ll check” while simultaneously saying “don’t expect much”.
