With the month of August approaching, here we take a look at bank holidays scheduled in the month by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Independence Day, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Janmashtami bring the total number of bank holidays to 15 this month, including weekly offs.
All banks across the country will have the second and fourth Saturdays off as usual.
Some holidays differ across states as per local needs.
August 3: Sunday
August 8: All banks closed in Gangtok (Sikkim) on account of Tendong Lho Rum Faat
August 9: Raksha Bandhan and Jhulan Purnima. Also, second Saturday
August 10: Sunday
August 13: All banks closed in Imphal, Manipur for Patriot’s Day
August 15: Independence Day; Parsi New year; Janmashthami
August 16: All banks in Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Aizawl (Mizoram), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Ranchi (Jharkhand), Chandigarh (UT), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Gangtok (Sikkim), Hyderabad (Telangana), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Kanpur and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Shillong (Meghalaya), Jammu and Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) to remain closed on account of Janmashtami and Krishna Jayanti.
August 17: Sunday
August 19: Banks in Agartala (Tripura) to remain closed to mark the occasion of the birthday of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.
August 23: Fourth Saturday
August 24: Sunday
August 25: All banks closed in Guwahati on account of Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva.
August 27: All banks across Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Belapur, Mumbai and Nagpur (Maharashtra), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Bhubaneshwar (Odisha), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Hyderabad (Telangana), Panaji (Goa), and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) to remain closed on account of Ganesh Chaturthi and Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha), Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata and Ganesh Puja and Vinayaka Chathurthi.
August 28: All banks across Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) and Panaji (Goa) closed on account of 2nd day of Ganesh Chaturthi as well as Nuakhai.
