Amid buzz over the Congress president polls, the party's general secretary organisation K C Venugopal met AICC chief Sonia Gandhi here on Tuesday.
Sources said organisational matters and those related to the presidential polls were on the agenda of the meeting.
Venugopal, who had been participating in the padyatra in Kerala, flew down to the national capital to meet Gandhi at her 10 Janpath residence.

The Punjab cabinet has approved the summoning of a special session of the Assembly on September 22 to bring a confidence motion.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the council of ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, here on Tuesday.
A spokesperson of the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said the cabinet approved the recommendation, to be sent to the governor, for summoning the special session of the House under Article 174(1) of the Constitution.
"The session will start with obituary references at 11 am, followed by the moving of the confidence motion in favour of the state government," he added.
The BJP on Tuesday claimed that a person close to AAP leadership was awarded liquor contract under its now-withdrawn excise policy, as it launched a fresh attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the alleged excise row.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar on Tuesday said he was pained by any adverse comment against India that is totally disconnected from the ground reality and is picked up by the media in high decibel.
Addressing the All India Management Association's (AIMA) 49th National Management Convention, Dhankar recounted the government’s achievements in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, ease of doing business, economic reforms and the upcoming G-20 presidency of India.
“The executive leadership has attained on ground what we never imagined earlier,” the vice president said.
“It pains my heart sometimes when anywhere from the globe there will be a voice totally disconnected from the ground reality of this country saying something adverse and that is picked by the media in high decibel,” he said. - PTI.
This will be the first visit of Dhankhar, a former Rajasthan MLA, to the Assembly since he assumed office in August.
The vice president will reach the Rajasthan Assembly at 5 pm, the statement said.
It would, however, be interesting to see if a surprise candidate or candidates also throw their hat in the ring.
The upcoming polls would certainly be historic as the new president would replace Sonia Gandhi, the longest-serving party president who has been at the helm since 1998, barring the two years between 2017 and 2019 when Rahul Gandhi took over.

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday kick-started the 13th day of his Bharat Jodo Yatra from Cherthala along with thousands of party workers.
The yatra began with the planting of a Rambutan sapling at St. Michael's College. It was organised by Sasthravedi, the environment wing of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee.
Local Self-Government Minister M B Rajesh and the state's former Finance Minister Thomas Isaac alleged Khan was trying to implement the policies of the BJP-RSS in Kerala and the same is evident from his conduct of the last few days. Rajesh alleged that the BJP knows it cannot buy or intimidate Left MLAs to join it, as it did in other states like Karnataka and Goa, and "therefore, they are trying to create a Constitutional crisis here."

Ruling out even a “slightest compromise” with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin has asserted that the party-led alliance in Tamil Nadu consisting of Congress and Left parties will continue for the 2024 General Elections.
Stalin also appealed to all political parties opposed to the BJP and its ideology to come on “one platform” to achieve electoral success. He also categorically said he was not in the race to be a prime ministerial candidate quoting his father M Karunanidhi’s famous line, “I know my height.”
