New Delhi: A 31-member Select Committee of Lok Sabha was constituted on Friday to examine the Income Tax Bill, 2025.
The multi-party panel will be headed by senior BJP MP Baijayant Panda. The Bill was introduced in the Lower House by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday along with a motion to send it to a Select Committee.
The panel, which has 14 BJP MPs and six Congress lawmakers among others, has been given time till the first day of the next Session to submit the report.
Besides Panda, the other BJP members in the panel include Nishikant Dubey, Jagadish Shettar, Etala Rajender, Bhartruhari Mahtab and Naveen Jindal.
The Congress MPs in the panel are Deepender Hooda, Benny Behanan, Vijay Vasanth, Amar Singh, Gowaal Kagada Pavavi and Rakubul Hussain.
Other MPs include Mahua Moitra (Trinamool Congress), NK Premachandran (RSP), Supriya Sule (NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar), Arvind Sawant (Shiv Sena-UBT), D Prasada Rao (TDP) and Lalji Verma (Samajwadi Party).
