Justice Dilip B Bhosale, a former Allahabad High Court Chief Justice, has resigned as Lokpal member citing personal reasons.

Justice Bhosale (63), who is the son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Babasaheb Bhosale and appointed a sitting judge in 2012 in Karnataka High Court, sent his resignation to President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday.

"I have tendered my resignation from the post of judicial member Lokpal on January 6, with effect from January 12, 2020 due to personal reasons," he said in a tweet.

Justice Bhosale had retired in October last year from Allahabad High Court where he was Chief Justice. Hailing from Satara in Maharashtra, he was first appointed an Additional Judge at the Bombay High Court in January 2001 and promoted to be a Permanent Judge two years later.

He along with former chief justices of different high courts -- Pradip Kumar Mohanty, Abhilasha Kumari and Ajay Kumar Tripathi -- had taken oath as judicial members of the Lokpal on March 27, 2019. There are four other non-judicial members in Lokpal apart from Chairman Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose.

The non-judicial members are Dinesh Kumar Jain, Archana Ramasundaram, Mahender Singh and Dr Indrajeet Prasad Gautam.
