Belagavi: Six pilgrims from Gokak who had been to Prayagraj and other pilgrim centres were killed after an MUV rammed into a road divider at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh in the early hours of Monday.

The accident took place when the pilgrims were on their way from Prayagraj to Jabalpur.

Six were killed on the spot and two suffered severe injuries.

The deceased were identified as Balachandra Goudar (50), Sunil Shedshyal (45), Basavaraj Kurti (63), Basavaraj Dodmal (49), Iranna Shebinkatti (27) and Virupakshi Gumati (61).

The injured were identified as Mushtaq Shindikurbet and Sadashiv Updali.
