"A circular has been issued in the department and to the publicity department, asking to change the official name of Subhash Zanak to Subhash Zanak (Patil)," an official from Mantralaya said.
As per the circular, the Minister's name would be changed soon, the official said. Patil is a popular surname in dominant Maratha community.
Last month, the old nameplate at Chief Minister's official residence 'Varsha' in Malabar Hill as well as in Mantralaya bearing Ashok Chavan's name gave way to a shiny brass one with the name 'Ashokrao Chavan'.
