Yavatmal: A pall of gloom descended in the Wani locality located in the Yavatmal district of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, from where the Jaiswal family belonged: three of whom died in the Uttarakhand helicopter tragedy.
The deceased were identified as Rajkumar Jaiswal (41), his wife, Shraddha Jaiswal, (35) and their two-year-old daughter Kashi.
The Jaiswals were a religious family.
The couple’s son, Vivaan (10), survived the tragedy as he had stayed back with his grandfather in Pandharkawada.
Jaiswal was a renowned coal businessman from the Vidarbha region.
Jaiswal, along with his family members, had left from Wani in Yavatmal to seek blessings at Kedarnath temple during the Char Dham Yatra.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed shock over the tragedy.
“Deeply pained by the tragic accident where passengers lost their lives in a helicopter crash near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand this morning while travelling from Kedarnath to Guptkashi. Among the victims were devotees from Maharashtra as well. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. We stand in solidarity with all those affected,” said Fadnavis.
Recently, the Jaiswal family had organised the Shiv Maha Puran Katha in Wani.
Shraddha’s sister Pooja and husband Pravin Mahajan too were in Kedar Dham. However, they were to board another helicopter.
It may be mentioned, on May 8, when another helicopter going to Gangotri Dham crashed in Uttarkashi district, six persons died of which three were from the Powai area of Mumbai - Vijayalaxmi Reddy ( 57), Ruchi Agrawal (56) and Kala Chandrakant Soni (61).
