Mumbai: The Air Force Museum in Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur was inaugurated on Thursday by Air Marshal Vijay Kumar Garg, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command.
The Air Force Museum houses a rich collection of memorabilia of Indian Military Aviation and displays the history of the Indian Air Force.
The Museum displays a Mi 8 helicopter, MiG-21 fighter aircraft and Pichora missile at the entrance. The various sections of the museum include History of IAF, Audio Visual section, equipment display section, weapon section.
The Museum also has a flying simulator section where visitors can have real time experience of flying a fighter jet.
The museum will be open for the public on all days except Tuesday and Gazetted holidays from 1000-1400 hrs and 1600-1800 hrs.
The primary purpose of the Air Force museum is to preserve and showcase the history, evolution and achievements of the Air Force. It provides a platform for education, research and remembrance of the Air Force’s personnel and their contributions.
