Mumabi: Amid strong reactions and criticism across Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar , who is the NCP National President, on Monday asked the party’s youth wing chief Suraj Chavan to resign from the post a day after NCP workers clashed with members of Chhava Sanghatna.

The incident took place on Sunday in Latur after Chhava Sangathana workers led by their leader Vijay Ghatge confronted Maharashtra NCP unit president and Raigad MP Sunil Tatkare and hurled a deck of playing cards over a video of state Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokae playing Junglee Rummy, an online card game, inside legislature, went viral on social media platforms.

Thereafter, NCP workers beat up activists of Chhava Sanghatna.

Chavan was allegedly involved in the attack.

"In the backdrop of an extremely serious and condemnable incident that occurred in Latur yesterday, I have given clear instructions to Suraj Chavan, the state president of the Nationalist Youth Congress, to immediately resign from his post,” Pawar posted on X.

Chavan too tendered an apology.
