New Delhi: In what is politically significant, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Mumbai on a two-day whirlwind tour coinciding with Ganeshotsav festivities at a time when the financial capital is under the grip of Maharashtra reservation protests.

Shah will arrive on Friday night.

Shah will visit the Lalbaug cha Raja, one of the famous Ganesh mandals in Mumbai, on Saturday.

The Mumbai-born Shah, the BJP’s troubleshooter, visits the Lalbaug cha Raja every year with his family.

During the visit, Shah is slated to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who will brief him of the political situation, the ongoing Maratha protests and the BJP's preparations for the Maharashtra mega local bodies elections.

Shah may also meet Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde, the chief leader of Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar, the NCP president, however, this is not yet confirmed.

He is also slated to visit the residence of state Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar for Ganpati darshan.
