This project will ease rail connectivity to Sainagar Shirdi and will be a boon to lakhs of devotees visiting the shrine of Saibaba at Shirdi.

It will not only benefit devotees but also regular passengers, students, businessmen and farmers. It will also facilitate movement of farm products to the markets and will boost the economy of the area.

The project is part of the 2024-25 Umbrella Work of Multi tracking for capacity augmentation.

In the proximity of the project area, the Final Location Survey for Pune-Nashik new connectivity via Ahmednagar, Puntamba, Shirdi and Nashik road is also under progress and this route will serve as a new corridor and enhance rail connectivity between two religious places of great significance.

The doubling work will ease line capacity of the Puntamba-Sainagar Shirdi section which is presently utilized at 19.66 per cent and is expected to rise to 79.70 per cent without doubling in the near future.

Puntamba and Sainagar Shirdi are already connected by rail with many trains operating on the route.
