Mumbai: Reacting to the violence that took place in Maharashtra's Nagpur on Monday night, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen(AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that the incident should be seen in the context of the recent remarks made by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the ministers of the Maha Yuti-NDA government in the state.

“In the last few weeks, the statements made by the chief minister and other ministers of Maharashtra government should be examined. The biggest provocative statements are coming from the government... They don't even realise their responsibilities that they are chief minister and ministers," he said.

"They burned effigies of a certain emperor in the entire Maharashtra; there was no reaction and they did not like this. So they wrote verses of the Quran on a piece of cloth and burnt it,” he said, adding that when it was happening, immediately people complained to the police.

“You have taken oath in the name of Constitution, follow the rule of law…this is the failure of the government and the intelligence,” he said, adding: “The incident happened in Nagpur, which is the hometown of CM (Fadnavis) and Union Minister (Nitin Gadkari).”

Pre-planned conspiracy: Ambedkar

Lashing out at Devendra Fadnavis-led MahaYuti-NDA dispensation, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi founder chief Prakash Ambedkar said that the incident was a pre-planned conspiracy.

“A poisonous minister of Maharashtra is openly spreading hatred in the society. Not only this, people are being brought from outside to spread hatred in Maharashtra. This is part of a big well-planned conspiracy! Appeal to all the people including Nagpur to not pay attention to rumours and maintain peace,” said Ambedkar, the grandson of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
