Mumbai: In a landmark day for Mumbai and its transportation system, the Coastal Road to the Bandra Worli Sea Link through the iconic North Channel Bridge was inaugurated.
Along with the bridge, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated three interchanges.
“This is a remarkable milestone for Mumbai towards ease of commute and pollution,” Fadnavis said.
The Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Mumbai Coastal Road and the Rajiv Gandhi Bandra-Worli Sea Link will go a long way in saving time and fuel.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who is the guardian minister of Mumbai City district and Information Technology and Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar and Minister for Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who are guardian ministers of the Mumbai Suburban district, were present.
“With 94 per cent of the work completed, the Coastal Road will be fully open to Mumbaikars upon the completion of the Prabhadevi Connector in February. I appreciate all the officers, engineers, employees of the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation, contractors, and construction workers involved in successfully completing the Coastal Road project. Your dedication and hard work have made this possible,” he said.
Besides, he also inaugurated the intersection from Marine Drive to Prabhadevi, the intersection connecting Bindumadhav Thackeray Chowk to the Sea Bridge and the intercity route towards Bandra.
