Palghar, Mumbai: Vikas Walkar, father of Shraddha Walkar who was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawalla, passed away at his house in Vasai in Palghar district on Sunday.
Vikas Walkar was Chairman of Shraddha Walkar Charitable Trust and was fighting for justice for his daughter.
The organisation focuses on women's safety and provides pro-bono legal aid to underprivileged families seeking justice.
Poonawalla (28) is accused of killing Shraddha (27) by cutting her body in 35 pieces and disposing it off in Mehrauli in Delhi in 2022.
Aftab was arrested on November 12, 2022.
Walkar, who lived in Vasai, had been demanding death penalty for Poonawalla.
Walkar was found motionless in the morning and was rushed to the Cardinal Gracias Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The post-mortem report is awaited.
The suspected cause of death is heart attack.
Walkar had been tirelessly seeking justice for his daughter's horrific death.
Shraddha's remains, recovered from the Mehrauli forest, are yet to be handed over to the family by the Delhi Police, a fact that reportedly caused him immense distress - as the family has not been able to conduct the rituals.
