Mumbai: In an intelligence-based operation, four Maoists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Gadchiroli along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh state boundary on Wednesday.
The operation was launched based on intelligence about the presence of the Naxalites from Gatta dalam in the Gadchiroli-Narayanpur border.
The units of C-60, the anti-Naxal commando force of Gadchiroli police, and two units of CRPF’s Quick Action Team were dispatched to the spot.
The encounter went on for several hours.
The bodies of three women and a man were later recovered along with an SLR rifle, two INSAS rifles, and a .303 rifle.
The identities of the outlaws are yet to be revealed.
The region has been receiving heavy rainfall and it was a challenging operation as it was conducted in deep jungles.
