Mumbai: Hours after prominent psephologist and then co-director of Lokniti-CSDS, Sanjay Kumar, ignited a political storm by withdrawing his online posts on Maharashtra elections, Chief Minister and BJP stalwart Devendra Fadnavis described Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha as a serial liar.
“Like a serial killer….Rahul Gandhi is a serial liar,” Fadnavis told reporters in Mumbai. Fadnavis accused the Congress leader of creating doubts in the minds of the public, in the wake of the mammoth win of the BJP-led Maha Yuti alliance.
Earlier, Sanjay Kumar, in a post on X, said: “I sincerely apologize for the tweets posted regarding Maharashtra elections. Error occurred while comparing data of 2024 Lok Sabha and 2024 Assembly elections. The data in row was misread by our Data team. The tweet has since been removed. I had no intention of dispersing any form of misinformation.”
After Sanjay Kumar’s post, Amit Malviya, the in-charge of BJP's National Information & Technology Department, slammed the CSDS and Rahul Gandhi.
“The very institution whose data Rahul Gandhi leaned on to defame the voters of Maharashtra has now admitted that its figures were wrong — not just on Maharashtra, but even on SIR. Where does this leave Rahul Gandhi and the Congress, which brazenly targeted the Election Commission and went so far as to brand genuine voters as fake? Shameful.”
