Mumbai:In a historic first, the inaugural batch of 17 female cadets passed out from the National Defence Academy, the premier tri-services training institute of the Indian armed forces in Khadakwasla in Pune on Friday.

A total of 1341 cadets participated in the parade, of which 336 cadets were from the passing out course.

This passing-out-parade held particular significance as it marked the passing out of the first ever of female cadets.

With their successful graduation, these pioneering female cadets will now join their respective pre-commissioning training academies as NDA alumni, heralding a transformative chapter in the NDA's legacy.

Training of the 148th Course culminated in a momentous POP at the iconic Khetarpal Parade Ground.

In a magnificent display of precision and discipline, the Cadets marched past the Quarterdeck with impeccable bearing.

The event was graced by an enthusiastic and diverse gathering comprising the proud parents, distinguished dignitaries, school children, civilians and serving, as well as retired personnel from the Armed forces.

Former Indian Army chief and ex union minister General (Dr) VK Singh (Retd), currently the Governor of Mizoram was the Reviewing Officer for the Passing Out Parade, Spring Term-2025.

Lt Col Praveen Kumar Tiwari, Adjutant, astride his charger ‘Reliant Robin’ oversaw the conduct of the parade.

The Academy Cadet Captain Udayveer Singh Negi of ‘G’ Squadron, commanded the parade.

The Reviewing Officer presented the President’s Gold, Silver & Bronze Medals to the Cadets standing first, second & third in the order of merit.
