Comedian Samay Raina issued an apology over the remarks made in his now deleted YouTube show India's Got Latent, an NDTV report said, citing sources.
He promised to be more careful and ensure that such incidents are not repeated in near future.
Maharashtra Cyber Cell on Monday recorded the statement of comedian Samay Raina in a case registered over objectionable remarks on his YouTube show, an official said.
The agency had summoned Raina several times to record his statement in connection with the case, the official said.
Raina got into trouble after Ranveer Allahbadia’s crass remarks about parents and sex on his now-deleted YouTube show India’s Got Latent led to a massive furore in February, both online and offline, with multiple police complaints filed against the two and those involved with the show.
The report further added that Samay Raina, in a statement to the Maharashtra Cyber Cell "admitted his mistake" and "apologised for whatever happened during the show".
He also said that "everything happened in a flow during the show and that he did not intend to say what he said", the report added citing sources.
He said Raina, who recently returned from abroad, appeared before the probe agency at its headquarters in Mhape and recorded his statement.
The comedian reached the office in the afternoon, recorded his statement for more than five hours, and left the premises at 6:45, the official said.
He said the agency had earlier recorded statements of Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Apoorva Makhija and others.
The comedian also stated that this entire controversy has taken a toll on his mental health. Raina also mentioned that with all this going on, his Canada tour did not go well, the report added.
Earlier on March 20, Raina said he was rescheduling his India Tour, days after reports surfaced that the comic's shows in Delhi, set to be held on March 21 and March 23, were cancelled.
"Hello guys, I'm rescheduling my India Tour. You will get the refunds shortly, see you soon," he wrote on his Instagram Story.
Raina's shows in Gujarat were also reportedly cancelled in February following the outrage.
Allahbadia apologised twice for his comments, whereas Raina removed all episodes of India's Got Latent from his YouTube channel in the wake of the controversy.
Last month, the Supreme Court granted interim protection from arrest to Allahbadia over his comments while calling it "vulgar" and saying he had "dirty mind" which put the society to shame.
