Mumbai: More than a week after his ‘gaddar’ jibe on Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde - in his satirical video Naya Bharat— snowballed into a major political issue, Kunal Kamra has once again failed to appear before the Mumbai police after being summoned.
The 36-year-old comedian is currently in Villupuram in Tamil Nadu, where he shifted a few years ago.
Last week, the Madras High Court granted interim anticipatory bail to Kamra on the condition that he execute a bond to the satisfaction of the judicial magistrate at Vanur, however the protection is till 7 April.
A team of Mumbai police reached his Dadar residence in Mumbai on Monday, to serve another summons based on FIRs against him.
Meanwhile, Kamra in a post on X, said: "Going to an address where I haven’t lived for the last 10 Years is a waste of your time & public resources...
On the other hand, Yuva Sena leader Rahool Kanal issued a veiled threat to the stand-up comedian once again.
“We welcome the court's order that gives him relief, but it is only until April 7. He should come and face the law.
"No matter what protection he has there (in Tamil Nadu) but whenever he comes to Mumbai, he will be welcomed in a good 'Shiv Sena style’,” he said.
Earlier, Mumbai Police had asked Kunal Kamra to appear on 31 March at Khar police station for questioning.
