Mumbai: A protest by BJP’s youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) outside the office of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) at the Azad Maidan turned violent when protesters vandalised the office of the grand old party even as the police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the agitated mob.
The BYJM is organising protests against what they described as the Congress party's false propaganda and disrespect of the Constitution's chief architect Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, as well as the unruly conduct of Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi during the ongoing Parliament Session.
The protesters came and threw black ink on the photos of Gandhi-family members - Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
After this some of the protesters managed to get into the MRCC office.
As the demonstration turned chaotic and din prevailed, the Mumbai Police used force to control the situation, resorting to a lathicharge to disperse the crowd.
“Today an example of how much the BJP is irritated by the issues on which Rahul Gandhi is fighting like a rock against Modi-Shah and the BJP government was seen in Mumbai. This vandalism done by BJP goons is the work of cowards,” the Mumbai Congress posted on X.
Besides, it also urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis not to encourage such hooliganism in the state and Mumbai city and take strict action against the perpetrators.
