Mumbai: Amid the turmoil in Bangladesh and attacks on Hindus, Jagroto Bangla, an organisation of the Bengali community in the Mumbai metropolitan region, has appealed to Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Prof Muhammad Yunus seeking the immediate unconditional release of  Swami Chinmoy Krishna Das.

Besides demanding the release of Swami Chinmoy Krishna Das, they also demanded grant of compensation and rehabilitation of Hindus whose properties have been vandalised, protect life and property of Hindus and ensure human dignity.

They also demanded Bangladesh's interim administration to ensure security of places of worship of Hindus, declare all forced conversions illegal and stop all kinds of discrimination against the Hindus. 

“We do hope you shall appreciate that there remains intense people to people relationships between the citizens of India and Bangladesh and hence we are deeply perturbed about the present gross human rights violations of the minority Hindus in Bangladesh,” the memorandum said. 

A delegation comprising Ranjan Choudhury, Convenor, Jagroto Bangla and Convenor, Bengali Cell-BJP Maharashtra, Subhagat Mahindranath Das, Member, Executive Committee, BJP Maharashtra, Pawan Ram Kumar Tripathi, Vice President, BJP Maharashtra and Treasurer, Shree Siddhivinayak Mandir Trust and Niranjan Kumar Bimalkant Bose, General Secretary, Bengali Cell, BJP Maharashtra, met officials of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission’s office in Mumbai on Monday and submitted a list of demands.
