Mumbai: The Muslims will never surpass the Hindus in terms of population, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said, countering the claims made by some Right-wing politicians and organisations.
The Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of the Muslims has actually come down, Owaisi told reporters in Pune.
“The latest National Family Health Survey actually shows that among all religious communities, the TFR for Muslim community has dropped the most. Even though it is still slightly higher than that of our Hindu brothers and sisters, the decline is sharper among Muslims,” he said.
“Experts have already stated that the Muslim population growth will stabilise at 20 to 21 percent, while the Hindu population will stabilise at around 2071. Muslim population growth will stabilise, and it will never surpass the Hindu population in this country,” said Owaisi.
On the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, he said: “India, I must say, after Pahalgam, we had a real opportunity to give a strong response to Pakistan. Why did it stop? I don’t know, truly, I don’t know why it stopped… It was a war-like situation. Suddenly, operations halted. Why stop, brother, when the entire country was ready to deliver a decisive response? Now, you sit in Parliament and speak about gaining Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.”
