Mumbai: A dozen people were injured, two of them critically, after a massive fire broke out in an industrial unit in Nagpur on Friday night.
The blast took place at around 6:00 pm hours at MMP Aluminium Industries Limited in the MIDC area of Umred. The shattering noise of the blast could be heard from kilometres away.
The firm makes aluminium foil and powder.
The critical patients have been shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur.
“There was an explosion in the factory's polished tubing unit. The fire has not been completely controlled. The fire department is present at the spot, and fire engines are working to extinguish the fire,” Nagpur Rural’s Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar said.
More than 80 persons were present inside the plant during the explosion.
