Mumbai: The central Indian hub of Nagpur is reeling under heavy rains with large stretches of the city and its suburbs getting inundated on Wednesday morning.
Nagpur’s District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in the city for the day.
“Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places over Nagpur and Bhandara. Light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at most places over Nagpur,” according to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Nagpur.
The Nagpur city received over 80 to 100 mm rainfall over the last 24 hours, reports reaching here said.
Several tehsils in Nagpur district also experienced very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall resulting in inundation disrupting the road traffic.
The Nagpur city and district police and administration has been put on high alert.
